UPDATE - follow-up to What to expect from Hyundai Bayon ahead of October 26 launch?: Hyundai has officially unveiled its new Bayon midsize SUV and opened pre-bookings at Rs 11,000 ahead of its market launch on October 26, 2026. The vehicle has already started arriving at dealership showrooms across the country. ## Positioning and Engines The Bayon sits below the popular Creta in Hyundai's lineup, filling the space between the Venue and the Creta. At launch, it uses a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that pushes out 115hp and 144Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual gear system or a CVT. Hyundai plans to add a factory-fitted CNG option later, which will use an underbody-mounted tank to save boot space. The expected price range for the SUV falls between Rs 9 lakh and Rs 14 lakh ex-showroom. ## Design and Features Built on the Global K Enhanced platform, the exterior adopts the 'Art of Steel' styling language with a crossover silhouette, split headlamps, and 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Buyers can choose from 10 different paint options, including matte finishes for Titanium Black and Classy Blue. Inside, the cabin features a black-and-white layout, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, dual 12.3-inch screens, and a generative AI assistant. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags and electronic stability control, while higher variants gain a Level 2 Pro ADAS package. ## Context This launch represents Hyundai's strategic expansion into the competitive Indian midsize SUV segment with alternative fuel options. Offering a CNG variant allows the carmaker to target cost-conscious buyers without altering the premium status of the Creta.
