UPDATE - follow-up to Bentley Torcal revealed ahead of mid-2027 India launch: Bentley has detailed the technical specifications and interior features of the Torcal, its first-ever electric vehicle, ahead of its scheduled arrival in India in mid-2027 at an expected price of Rs 4.5 crore ex-showroom. The higher price compared to the Bentayga stems from EVs lacking the same customs-duty benefits under the new UK-India FTA.

Design and Dimensions

Named after El Torcal de Antequera in Spain and built on the PPE platform shared with Porsche's Cayenne Electric, the Torcal slots below the Bentayga. It measures about five metres long with a wheelbase just over three metres, sitting 50mm lower and 120mm shorter than a standard-wheelbase Bentayga. The exterior features an illuminated grille with crystal-effect polycarbonate elements, slim tail-lamps with a U-shaped motif, and 21-inch wheels as standard, though India-spec models may receive smaller rims. Under the bonnet lies a 90-litre front trunk, complementing a 460-litre boot that lacks a spare wheel in favour of a puncture repair kit.

Performance and Charging

Two permanent-magnet motors draw power from a 113kWh net, 800V battery backed by a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty. The powertrain generates 888hp and 1,350Nm of torque, pushing the roughly 2.7-tonne SUV from 0 to 100 kph in 2.9 seconds. The WLTP claimed range is 600km. A 400kW charger enables a 10 to 80 percent charge in 16 minutes, though such high-speed chargers are not currently available in India. The chassis incorporates fully active suspension and five degrees of rear-wheel steer, yielding an 11.1-metre turning circle.
