Tata Motors is dropping the Tigor nameplate and rebranding its only sedan as the Aeris, with the official market launch scheduled for September 25. Ahead of the debut, uncamomouflaged units have already started reaching dealership yards across the country.
Exterior and Interior Features
The new model brings a revised design featuring a clamshell bonnet, reflector LED headlights, a gloss black front applique, and C-shaped bumper elements. It also includes a coupe-like sloping roofline, a roof spoiler with a narrow high-mount stop light, a shark fin antenna, and connected LED tail lights. The spied vehicle appears to be a lower-spec trim, missing out on top-tier features like integrated LED DRLs, LED fog lights, alloy wheels, and a 360-degree camera with a dashcam. Inside, the cabin features a fabric-wrapped dashboard, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a wide LCD instrument cluster.
Performance and Rivals
The Aeris i-CNG variant carries forward the dual-cylinder CNG tank setup, an AMT gearbox option, a CNG start feature, and a reinforced suspension. Under the hood, it retains the 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine from the previous model, with the CNG version offering a fuel economy of up to 28.06 km/kg. Upon launch, the vehicle will compete directly against the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura, and Honda Amaze.
