Karan Johar climbs to fourth place on rich list after wealth jumps by Rs. 480 crore

Filmmaker-producer Karan Johar has jumped from fifth to fourth place on the Hurun India Rich List after his total wealth increased by Rs. 480 crore in just one year. His fortune rose from Rs. 1,400 crore in 2024 to Rs. 1,880 crore in the latest edition, marking an increase of roughly 34 percent. On the previous list, Johar sat behind Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Hrithik Roshan, and Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan and his family held a fortune of Rs. 1,600 crore at the time, placing them Rs. 200 crore ahead of Johar. In the 2025 list, Bachchan and his family are estimated at Rs. 1,630 crore, while Johar has moved Rs. 250 crore ahead of them. Dharma Productions remains the main company tied to Johar's wealth on the list. The biggest business development for the banner during this period was Johar selling a 50 percent stake to Adar Poonawalla for $119 million. Beyond filmmaking, Johar's business ventures also span Dharma's OTT arm Dharmatic, hospitality, and the luxury jewellery brand Tyaani.
