Under the deal, WWCOTY will be overseen by a dedicated steering committee that sits alongside the World Car Awards. The existing World Car Awards team will work with current and former WWCOTY jurors to shape the 2027 edition, using the same systems and processes that decide the main award. Beth Rhind, co‑founder and executive vice‑president of the World Car Awards, said the move will give more visibility to women in the auto sector and help their voices be heard worldwide. Details of the 2027 awards, including juror lists, categories and timeline, will be released later. The World Car Awards were launched in 2004 and are judged by 98 automotive journalists, among them Autocar India editor‑in‑chief Hormazd Sorabjee. The 2026 World Car of the Year was the BMW iX3. WWCOTY began in 2009 and today has 86 women jurors, including Renuka Kirpalani, consulting editor – videos at Autocar India, and Mugdha Mishra, editor – auto media strategy. The Nissan Leaf won the 2026 Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year.
