The new all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ has officially arrived in India, priced at Rs 60.50 lakh ex-showroom, bringing a blend of high-end technology and long driving range to the luxury electric vehicle market. Built on the brand's new Modular Architecture skateboard platform, the electric vehicle measures over 4.7 metres long and features a slippery aerodynamic shape with a drag coefficient of 0.21Cd, aided by flush door handles and 142 illuminated stars on the sealed grille. Under the body, the CLA 250+ packs a rear-mounted electric motor that generates 272 horsepower and 335Nm of torque, paired with an unusual two-speed gearbox designed to balance quick initial acceleration with highway efficiency. During real-world testing, the car sprinted from zero to 100 kph in 6.6 seconds in Sport mode. Power comes from an 85kWh net battery pack, which delivered an average real-world range of 612 kilometres on a single charge, achieving 584 kilometres in city conditions and 640 kilometres on the highway. Inside the AMG Line cabin, the layout centers on a large digital dashboard powered by four supercomputers and the new MB.OS operating system, alongside an Nvidia processor and an MBUX Virtual Assistant integrated with AI tools like ChatGPT. Practical touches include a 405-litre boot and a 101-litre front trunk, marking the first time Mercedes has offered a frunk on an electric vehicle. However, testers noted drawbacks including a cramped rear seat with a high floor causing a knees-up seating position and the absence of sunshades for the panoramic glass roof. Safety features include six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Level 2+ ADAS technology named MB.Drive.
