L&T shares jumped over 6% in Wednesday trading after the engineering conglomerate posted a strong set of numbers for the September quarter of FY27. The stock opened at ₹3,820 on the NSE, higher than the Tuesday close of ₹3,665.10, and touched an intraday low of ₹3,770 on 28 October. The rise placed L&T among the top gainers on both the Sensex and the Nifty 50. The company reported a 33% year‑on‑year increase in net profit, reaching ₹5,202 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2026. Revenue rose 16% to ₹78,750 crore, up from ₹67,984 crore a year earlier, helped by faster execution across its Projects, Products & Manufacturing (PPM) businesses. L&T also secured orders worth ₹1,47,665 crore, a 28% jump from the prior year, including large contracts in hydrocarbon offshore and onshore, CarbonLite Solutions and public‑spaces projects. Chairman and Managing Director S N Subrahmanyan said the results reflect continued customer confidence and the ability to win large, complex orders across sectors and geographies. He highlighted a record quarterly order inflow and an all‑time high order book of ₹8.5 lakh crore, which gives the firm multi‑year revenue visibility. ## Context A strong order book means L&T can count on steady future work, reducing uncertainty for investors and supporting continued growth in its core engineering and manufacturing segments.
