Jio Platforms has made a powerful stock market debut that pushed Reliance Industries past Tata Group to become India's most valuable business group. According to Bloomberg data, Reliance Group's combined market value crossed ₹30 trillion, leaving Tata Group behind at ₹25 trillion after Tata held the top spot for most of the past decade.

Market Debut Details

Jio shares rose as much as 23% on their first day of trading, giving the digital company a valuation of over ₹12.5 trillion. The Economic Times reports that the stock debuted at ₹1,358, which is a 21% premium over its IPO price of ₹1,119. The $3.1 billion IPO sold out in less than 100 minutes with 22 times subscription. This strong start helps reverse a poor track record for mega share sales in India.

Global Standing and Reactions

Jio is now the sixth-most valuable telecom firm in the world, overtaking rival Bharti Airtel. It stands as India's second-most valuable company, trailing only its parent firm Reliance. Mukesh Ambani rang the opening bell with four generations of his family on stage, calling it an emotional moment. Shankar Sharma, founder of GQuant Investech, said that a big listing can sometimes alter the mood of the entire investing nation.
