Ultraviolette has delayed the market launch of its Shockwave electric motorcycle to the first quarter of 2027, moving the timeline back from initial 2026 plans. The Bengaluru-based electric vehicle maker confirmed that the motorcycle will now adopt a newly developed 100V architecture.

Production and Specs

The upgrade follows a similar shift for the Tesseract electric scooter, with both vehicles now aligned for an early 2027 release. Ultraviolette co-founder and CEO Narayan Subramaniam stated that the two models have been developed in parallel over the past year. Manufacturing for the Shockwave is currently underway at the company's existing facility in Hosur. The motorcycle will be offered in both single- and dual-seat configurations. The transition to a 100V system is expected to deliver stronger power delivery, higher thermal efficiency, and faster charging compared to older platforms. Ultraviolette initially unveiled the Shockwave at an introductory price of Rs 1.50 lakh for the first 1,000 buyers, stepping up to Rs 1.75 lakh ex-showroom afterward. While earlier preliminary specifications listed 14.5 horsepower, a weight of 120 kilograms, and a range of 165 kilometres, final production figures remain awaited close to the launch.

Context

Automotive startups frequently revise launch timelines and engineering platforms to incorporate upgraded technology and supplier feedback before mass production begins. The company's recent funding and technical updates reflect ongoing efforts to scale its light electric vehicle platforms for the Indian market.
