Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay will campaign in Dharapuram tomorrow, September 30, 2026, to support TVK candidate P. Sathyabama for the upcoming assembly by-election. The by-elections for Madurantakam and Dharapuram scheduled for October 6 follow a nomination process that ran from September 9 to September 16, setting up a five-cornered contest involving TVK, DMK, AIADMK, Communist parties, and NTK.

Venue And Security

Workers are constructing a massive campaign stage on a 34-acre plot located on the Dharapuram-Udumalpet road. Party ministers and leaders inspected the venue today, September 29, including TVK general secretary and minister N. Anand, along with ministers Dr. K.G. Arunraj and K.A. Sengottaiyan, and deputy general secretary Udumalai K. Radhakrishnan. Officials are making arrangements to accommodate over 5,000 people at the venue.

Travel And Final Rally

Before reaching the venue, Chief Minister Vijay will travel by road from Coimbatore. Police have deployed 2,000 personnel and placed barricades along both sides of the road to manage security. Additionally, party organizers stated that Vijay will hold a roadshow on October 4, the final day of campaigning for votes, while Thanthi TV reported that alliance parties including Congress, VCK, IUML, and MDMK will also participate in the campaign events.

Context

By-elections draw intense political focus as major parties test their ground support ahead of broader state-level contests. Large rallies require extensive logistical planning involving traffic management, venue construction, and multi-layered police protection to ensure public safety during high-profile political visits.
