The folk fantasy thriller film The VVaan, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, has crossed forty-three crore rupees at the box office by its fifth day in theatres. Released on Friday, the film received mixed reviews from audiences and critics but posted steady collections through the weekend and into the weekdays. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh noted that the film stayed rock-steady on Monday with a drop of thirty-four point six one percent compared to its opening day, driven largely by mass pockets. A discounted ticket offer on Tuesday was expected to give the business another push before the release of Drishyam The Conclusion on Friday. According to Sacnilk, the film collected four point eight three crore rupees on Tuesday, following a Monday haul of five point two five crore rupees. It opened at eight crore rupees on Friday and minted fourteen point three five crore rupees on Sunday, bringing its total collection to forty-three point sixty-eight crore rupees by eight PM. The film faces competition from releases like Nani's The Paradise and the re-release of Marvel's Avengers Endgame Encore. One viral video from Muzaffarpur in Bihar showed people removing their footwear outside the theatre before watching the film, highlighting how the festival of Chhath Puja is showcased in the story.

Plot and Cast

The story follows a rational Mumbai engineer named Rishi, played by Sidharth Malhotra, and his wife Mamta, played by Tamannaah Bhatia, as they travel to his ancestral village in Devanchal, Bihar, during Chhath Puja. The supporting cast includes Sunil Grover, Avtar Gill, and Anup Soni. Balaji Motion Pictures presents the film in association with TVF and 11.11 Production. It is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Arunabh Kumar, and Niraj Kothari, with Manu Anand serving as the director of photography and visual director.

Context

Folk fantasy and horror-thriller themes drawing on regional cultural festivals often help connect mass-market films with audiences outside major metropolitan centres. Box office figures during weekdays frequently dip after opening weekends, making steady holds on Mondays and Tuesdays an important indicator of a film's theatrical run.
