BJP national president Nitin Nabin said Narendra Modi will again raise the flag from the Red Fort on Independence Day after the party secures the 2029 Lok Sabha election. On Wednesday Nabin led a BJP rally in Chandni Chowk, accompanied by Delhi chief minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra and dozens of party workers. The procession moved from the Jain Lal temple to Town Hall Chowk, carrying the slogan Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao. During the rally Nabin criticised Congress leaders for being uneasy about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise that aims to purge ineligible names from electoral rolls. He asserted the BJP will make sure any infiltrators are removed. He also attacked Rahul Gandhi, claiming the congress leader has no constitutional role and that his party follows only his or his family’s directives. Nabin added that Congress is dying under Rahul’s leadership and warned that soon he may be the sole worker left in the party. The statements were made ahead of the upcoming general election and the traditional Independence Day speech at the Red Fort, which Nabin said will host Modi again if the BJP wins. ## Context The SIR exercise is a periodic review by the Election Commission to update voter lists, a process often contested by political parties that fear it may affect their vote base.
