Former Tamil Nadu school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi has been arrested by Central Crime Branch police over allegations of collecting over Rs 100 crore by promising permanent recognition and statutory approvals from DTCP and CMDA for private schools.
Arrest And Protests
Following a complaint lodged by the private schools association, police arrested Poyyamozhi and brought him to Puzhal prison. A large group of DMK workers gathered outside the prison gates and raised slogans against the Tamil Nadu government. During the gathering, Vellore Katpadi DMK councillor Dita Saravanan made aggressive remarks, stating that party leader Vijay should have been targeted earlier in Karur to avoid such a situation, and a video of this speech quickly went viral on social media.
Subsequent Arrests
Dita Saravanan was subsequently arrested by a special police team in Villupuram at the house of Prem, after attempting to mislead authorities by pretending to head towards Bengaluru. Additionally, ACK Premkumar, the Villupuram DMK central district youth wing deputy organiser who provided shelter to Saravanan, was also taken into custody by the police.
