Karthik Subbaraj Reveals He Originally Wrote a Realistic Story for Ram Charan's Game Changer

Director Karthik Subbaraj revealed that he originally wrote a realistic story for Ram Charan's film Game Changer, but the final script underwent major changes. Speaking in a recent interview while promoting his new film Dorathi, the filmmaker shared details about his initial script.

Original Plot

Karthik Subbaraj stated that he wrote a realistic story about an IAS officer who reforms the system alongside his officials, presented from a gangster angle. He narrated this idea to director Shankar, who liked it and asked for a screenplay. However, Karthik was busy with the pre-production work of his movie Mahaan and could not follow up on the project. By the time it evolved into a big-budget movie starring Ram Charan, the original shape of the story had completely changed.

Context

Game Changer faced a tough run at the box office after its release, leading to widespread discussions among fans about its production journey. Filmmakers often pitch early concepts or draft storylines to peers in the industry long before a project enters full production and undergoes massive scale adjustments.
