Tata Safari electric version set for January 2027 debut with long battery range

Tata Motors is preparing to launch the electric version of its popular SUV, the Tata Safari EV, at the Auto Expo in January 2027. According to Hindustan, the company holds about 40 percent market share in the country's electric four-wheeler segment. This upcoming model will serve as the company's new flagship electric vehicle.

Specifications And Range

The vehicle is built on the company's Acti.ev+ platform, which is the same foundation used for the Harrier EV. It may be offered in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations. While official technical details are yet to be fully revealed by the company, reports indicate it could feature 65 kWh, 75 kWh, and large 80 kWh battery pack options. A 75 kWh battery pack model provides a claimed range of 627 kilometers for the rear-wheel drive variant and 622 kilometers for the all-wheel drive version, while the 80 kWh pack could deliver the highest range among all Tata electric cars.

Features And Pricing

Expected interior features include a triple screen layout, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a premium audio system, dual-zone climate control, a powered tailgate, a 360-degree or surround view camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite. Exterior elements feature a closed grille, aero-optimized alloy wheels, and special badge details. The starting ex-showroom price is expected to be around 20 lakh rupees, with top variants reaching 30 lakh to 32 lakh rupees. In the market, it will compete directly with models like the Mahindra XEV 9S and the MG Hector EV.
