A test mule of the Triumph Thruxton 400 has been spotted running with a circular colour TFT display and updated switchgear borrowed from the Bonneville T40.

Features and Upgrades

The spied motorcycle features a 4-inch circular TFT instrument cluster that supports connected features like phone and music controls along with full-map navigation. The new setup also brings five riding modes including Eco, Rain, Road, and two customisable modes named Rider A and Rider B. According to Rushlane, the updated left-side switchgear now carries a 4-way D-Pad and cruise control toggles, while the right side features an integrated engine kill switch, a repositioned hazard light switch, and a Mode button. Beyond the electronics, the bike retains its 349cc liquid-cooled engine producing up to 40 PS and 32 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox, along with clip-on handlebars, USD front forks, and a semi-fairing.

Market Details

The current Thruxton 400 is priced at Rs 2,76,552 ex-showroom, and the upcoming tech-loaded variant is expected to push prices closer to the Rs 3 lakh mark. The test mule was spotted wearing Pirelli Rosso 4 tyres, which are typically supplied for international markets, though Bajaj and Triumph have not yet officially confirmed if the India-spec version will receive all these exact upgrades or if this points to a separate premium variant.

Context

Automakers often test updated components on existing vehicle platforms before rolling them out to customers to ensure hardware and software reliability. Sharing advanced features across different models built on the same manufacturing lines helps brands reduce development costs while offering higher-end tech to a wider buyer base.
