Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 24th instalment of the PM-KISAN scheme on Friday, October 30, 2026, transferring more than ₹18,690 crore directly to over 9.34 crore farmers nationwide.

Odisha Allocation

Beneficiaries in Odisha received ₹3,000 crore from this nationwide release, which the Prime Minister initiated from Banaskantha in Gujarat. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi joined the event virtually from Bhubaneswar to address farmers at a state-level 'PM-Kisan Utsav'.

State Schemes and Crop Relief

Mr. Majhi stated that financial assistance went directly to the bank accounts of over 35.38 lakh farmers in Odisha via direct benefit transfer. He highlighted several state and central initiatives, including CM-Kisan, paddy procurement at ₹3,100 per quintal, the Subhadra Yojana, Krushi Vidyanidhi, and the PM Dhan-Dhanya Krushi Yojana, alongside efforts to revive millet cultivation across all 30 districts. Addressing recent floods in districts like Ganjam and Gajapati, the Chief Minister assured that affected families would receive crop loss assistance based on damage assessments.

Condolences and Dignitaries

During the programme, Mr. Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo, and other dignitaries observed a one-minute silence to mourn the death of Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's mother, Smt. Kashi Bai Ji, who passed away on Friday morning. Both Mr. Majhi and Mr. Singh Deo shared formal condolence messages expressing grief over the loss.

Context

The PM-KISAN scheme provides regular financial support to landholding farmer families across India to help them manage expenses related to agriculture and domestic needs. Direct benefit transfer mechanisms are widely used by governments to send funds straight to bank accounts without middlemen, reducing delays.
