Weather Update
A new depression over the southeast Bay of Bengal is moving west-northwestwards and will bring rain to Telangana after crossing the Andhra Pradesh coast. The system is expected to strengthen into a deep depression by the evening of October 31 and turn into a cyclonic storm over the next 24 hours before heading toward the Andhra Pradesh coast on November 2.
Impact On Telangana
S. Stella, Head of the IMD Centre Hyderabad, states that the system will weaken considerably by the time it reaches Telangana and will only be a depression. The state is expected to see light to moderate rainfall from November 2 to 4, along with isolated heavy rainfall on November 3 and 4. Heavy rain is expected in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal districts on November 2. On November 3, heavy rain will likely hit Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal. Hyderabad will also get light to moderate rain during this time.
Context
Depressions forming over the Bay of Bengal frequently bring seasonal rainfall to peninsular India during this time of the year. When these weather systems move over land, they usually lose their primary energy source from warm ocean waters and weaken into lower-intensity systems before causing widespread inland showers.
