Exam Details
The Jharkhand Teachers Eligibility Test (JTET) started today at 986 centres across the state. About 5.65 lakh candidates are expected to sit for the paper. The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) is organising the test to award TET certificates for roughly 39,000 vacant teaching posts in government primary and upper‑primary schools. The council said the test is crucial to fill the teaching gaps in government schools. The exam runs in two shifts: primary‑school candidates write from 9:45 am to noon, and upper‑primary candidates write from 2 pm to 4:30 pm.
Security Measures
City Superintendent of Police Paras Rana said prohibitory orders cover a 200‑metre radius around 101 centres in Ranchi and will stay in force until 7:30 pm on Sunday. Additional security personnel have been deployed at all centres. Rana warned that anyone involved in cheating or failing to perform duties during the exam will face strict legal action under the Jharkhand Competitive Examination Act, 2023. He also said staff who neglect their duties during exam hours will be prosecuted.
Context
Large‑scale teacher recruitment drives in Jharkhand often see high competition, prompting tight security to safeguard the integrity of the selection process.
