Bombay High Court has issued a dynamic ad‑interim injunction protecting Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1 from piracy ahead of its worldwide theatrical debut on November 5, 2026. The order comes after Godpower Media Private Limited, which owns the film’s domestic and territorial IP rights, filed a commercial suit seeking to block illegal recording, hosting and distribution of the script, character designs, footage, music, lyrics and audio recordings. Justice Madhav Jamdar noted the plaintiff’s “real and well‑founded apprehension” that the high‑budget project could be subject to illegal streaming. The court recorded the film’s estimated budget of Rs 2,000 crore and the total saga investment of Rs 4,000 crore before granting the injunction. The injunction restrains unidentified “John Doe” defendants, pirate websites and digital intermediaries from capturing or sharing the movie without permission. Its dynamic nature lets the makers alert internet service providers and platforms such as Google LLC about infringing URLs, prompting rapid takedown of links and domain blocks. Legal teams for Google and other major platforms signed a “no objection” to the directive and said they would act on notifications. The next hearing is set for December 16. Produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with Monster Mind Creations, the cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Trade analysts warn that selling 6 lakh tickets before release at top‑tier average ticket price could push day‑one earnings beyond Rs 100 crore. ## Context Anti‑piracy injunctions are a legal tool that lets filmmakers quickly block new online sources of illegal copies, a step deemed crucial for films with multi‑crore budgets that rely on opening‑week box‑office strength.
