UPDATE - follow-up to Drishyam 3 box office collection day 3 (updated live): Ajay Devgn film continues rampage, crosses ₹150 crore to beat Shaitaan, The RajaSaab lifetime: Ajay Devgn's Drishyam The Conclusion has crossed the ₹150 crore mark during its opening weekend at the domestic box office. The crime thriller serves as the final chapter of the Drishyam franchise and hit theatres on October 2. Before its release, advance bookings for the film crossed ₹50 crore with 13 lakh tickets sold, marking the fourth-highest advance collection ever for a Hindi film. On its opening day, the movie earned ₹62 crore net in India. Earnings dipped slightly to ₹53.50 crore on Saturday, which still pushed the total past ₹100 crore. By 5 pm on Sunday, collections reached ₹154 crore net, driven by morning shows that saw around 42 percent occupancy nationwide and higher numbers in tier-2 and tier-3 centres. This performance lets the film surpass the lifetime collections of several recent movies, including Salman Khan's Sikandar at ₹107 crore, Ajay's own film Shaitaan at ₹144 crore, Prabhas' The RajaSaab at ₹138 crore, and Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 at ₹150 crore. While top records held by Dhurandhar 2, Jawan, and Pathaan remain out of reach, the film aims to potentially overtake War and Sultan.
Cast and Crew
The film brings back Ajay Devgn as Vijay Salgaonkar, alongside Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, and Kamlesh Sawant. Jaideep Ahlawat and Prakash Raj join the cast as new entrants. Abhishek Pathak wrote and directed the feature.
Context
Franchise films with established star casts often see massive opening weekend ticket sales due to pre-existing audience loyalty and high advance bookings. Box office figures during holiday periods or extended weekends routinely help major Bollywood releases cross milestone earnings quickly.
