Box Office And Plot
Bollywood crime thriller Drishyam 3 has crossed Rs 340 crore at the worldwide box office. The Ajay Devgn-starrer earned Rs 217 crore at the domestic box office within just five days, making it one of the top five highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2026. The Hindi version avoids the plot direction of the Malayalam counterpart, using protagonist Vijay Salgaonkar's influence in the Goan Catholic community and his love for making movies as his weapons.
Script Development
Director Abhishek Pathak and his father Kumar Mangat Pathak's production house Panorama Studios acquired the franchise from the Malayalam makers, leading the Hindi and Malayalam teams to work together. Co-writers Abhishek, Aamii Keeyan Khan, Parveez Shaikh, and Malayalam writer Jeetu Joseph exchanged scripts. Devgn noted that both teams ultimately decided to pursue different stories because each script suited its respective audience best.
Future Possibilities
Though Drishyam 3 was billed as the conclusion of the trilogy, Ajay Devgn did not rule out the possibility of a fourth instalment. While stating that the current project is a conclusion, the actor added that he cannot predict the future and left the door open for another film.
Context
The Drishyam franchise is a major cross-industry success in Indian cinema, spanning multiple language remakes led by stars like Mohanlal and Ajay Devgn. Franchise films often explore new creative directions for different regional audiences while building on established suspense formulas.
