UPDATE - follow-up to Andhra Pradesh MPTC, ZPTC election results LIVE: TDP leads in multiple Zilla, Mandal Parishads: State Election Commissioner Anil Chandra Punetha and top officials are monitoring the ongoing counting of votes for 577 Zilla Parishad and 7,707 Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituencies across Andhra Pradesh. The counting began at 8 a.m. on November 7, 2026, at 365 centres under tight security with nearly 19,885 police officers deployed.

Local Results And Incidents

Ruling NDA alliance members, particularly the Telugu Desam Party, have secured victories in several regions. TDP won 4 Mandal Parishads and 10 MPTCs in Guntur district, alongside leads in 60 MPTCs and 6 ZPTCs. In Kurnool, TDP candidates Lakshmanna, Gummala Keerthi, and H Padma won their respective MPTC seats. Meanwhile, former Minister and YSRCP leader R.K. Roja grew emotional after her party lost an MPTC seat in Ilattur by just three votes following a TDP recount request. Tragically, 28-year-old Jana Sena Party MPTC contestant Garapati Divya passed away from a cardiac arrest hours before counting in East Godavari district, and journalist Chintakayala Giri suffered a heart attack at the Narsipatnam counting centre in Anakapalli district.

Context

Local body elections such as these form the foundational tier of rural governance in India, directly electing representatives to manage local development work.
