UPDATE - follow-up to BMW iX3 adds 612hp-M60 version with up to 754km range: BMW has officially detailed the performance upgrades and design features for its new range-topping iX3 M60 xDrive electric SUV.

Powertrain And Performance

The dual-motor setup puts out 612 horsepower and 875Nm of torque, using a new Gen6 motor at the rear axle. According to Autocar UK, the EV sprints from 0 to 100kph in 3.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240kph. The car draws power from a 108.7kWh battery pack that supports DC charging up to 400kW. Users can add 340 kilometers of range in 10 minutes of charging, while AC charging goes up to 22kW. Despite the high power output, the vehicle retains a claimed WLTP range of 754km. Autocar UK also notes the M60 comes with adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering, and an M Sport differential.

Exterior And Interior

Outside, the M60 features M Yellow Lights inspired by GT race cars, a blanked-off kidney grille, M-specific mirror caps, fender badges, and a black rear diffuser with a roof spoiler. It rides on 21-inch alloy wheels, with 22-inch wheels offered as options. The cabin includes an M Sport steering wheel, M Sport seats, illuminated headrest logos, and M-spec seatbelts. Drivers can use My Modes to adjust lighting, sound, displays, chassis, and the drive system. A 430W 13-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos handles audio. Production begins in spring 2027 at the Debrecen plant in Hungary, and BMW has confirmed the iX3 long-wheelbase will launch in India in 2027.

Context

High-performance electric variants allow carmakers to blend sports-car acceleration with battery efficiency. The Neue Klasse platform serves as the foundation for BMW's next generation of electric vehicles.
