Royal Enfield has launched a special anniversary edition of the Classic 650, named the Hypershift, priced at Rs 4.26 lakh ex-showroom in India. Created to mark the manufacturer's 125th anniversary, production of this special model is strictly limited to 125 units in each key region globally, including India.

Registration And Price

Interested buyers must register online to purchase one. Registrations opened on October 16 at 2 pm and remain active until October 28, when actual sales begin, with deliveries scheduled to start in November. The Hypershift version costs Rs 58,000 more than the base Vallam Red variant priced at Rs 3.68 lakh, and Rs 43,500 more than the top-tier Black Chrome model priced at Rs 3.82 lakh.

Design And Features

Mechanically identical to the standard production Classic 650, the motorcycle features a bespoke Hypershift finish that shifts between red, green, and gold shades depending on the light. Additional visual touches include a 125-year crest on the teardrop tank, special side-panel badging, hand-painted pinstripes, and a vintage brown leather quilted seat.

Engine Specs

Power comes from the familiar 648cc air-cooled parallel-twin engine, generating 47 horsepower and 52.3 Nm of torque. The motorcycle uses a chassis derived from the Super Meteor 650, paired with an RSU telescopic front fork instead of the Super Meteor's upside-down unit.

Context

Special edition motorcycles with limited production runs are a common way for heritage brands to celebrate milestone anniversaries and attract collectors. Royal Enfield frequently uses bespoke paint schemes and commemorative badges to set these special models apart from regular production bikes without changing their underlying mechanical performance.
