AI in Movies

Actor and entrepreneur Mark Wahlberg believes artificial intelligence has a valid place in filmmaking if it is used to improve existing work rather than replace human actors and writers. Speaking at TechCrunch Disrupt, Wahlberg said he plans to potentially use AI to enhance stadium settings and other background elements for his upcoming Pete Rose biopic. He stressed that a script should not simply come from ChatGPT, and that storytelling must remain at the heart of movies.

Future Legacy

Wahlberg stated he is open to having an AI replica of his body, face, and voice carry on his legacy in the future. While he has not visited the CAA Vault scanning facility yet, he said it would be cool for his children or grandchildren to control his likeness and place him in good movies. He added that he would not mind if an AI version of his likeness continued his upcoming animated series, "Ted," if he is no longer able to do it or no longer exists, provided there is a real audience for it.

Context

Hollywood remains heavily divided over how artificial intelligence should be used in film productions, balancing the fears of job displacement against new digital efficiencies. Scanning technology and AI likeness replicas represent an emerging frontier in the entertainment industry as actors and agents debate long-term rights and digital legacy.
