What Happened
Actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after unidentified gunmen opened fire at his car in Mumbai's Juhu area on Sunday evening, October 18. The incident occurred near Pushpa Narsee Park when the actor was returning from a football session and getting into his vehicle. Three men arrived on a motorcycle and fired multiple rounds at the car before fleeing the scene. Two people were injured in the attack: Tiger's driver Firdous, who suffered a bullet injury to his left arm, and an autorickshaw driver or staff member named Umesh Chavan. Both injured individuals were rushed to Nanavati Hospital in Vile Parle for medical attention, where the driver was stabilised and kept under observation.
Investigation and Police Action
The Mumbai Police registered an FIR against three unknown accused under Sections 109(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act. Authorities have deployed 15 specialised investigation teams to track down the shooters. Police cordoned off the area, collected empty shell casings, and are examining CCTV footage, escape routes, and technical surveillance. Investigators are checking if the attackers monitored Tiger's movements and are looking into an unverified social media message linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate, though no motive has been confirmed yet. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed police to investigate swiftly, and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde later visited the actor's residence.
Context
High-profile security incidents involving Bollywood personalities have a long history in Mumbai, often drawing heavy police mobilization and high-level political responses due to the city's status as the center of the Hindi film industry. Investigators in such high-risk cases routinely examine potential organized crime syndicates and local rivalries while reviewing extensive CCTV networks across the western suburbs. The use of motorcycles by assailants is a common tactic in targeted drive-by shooting cases because it allows for rapid escape through congested urban traffic.
