Ramayana Part One will release worldwide in cinemas on November 5, 2026, during the Diwali period, followed by a pay-per-view release on JioHotstar for audiences in India. Prime Focus Studios is producing the film in association with DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations. Nitesh Tiwari is directing this live-action cinematic adaptation, with a screenplay by Shridhar Raghavan adapted from Valmiki's epic.

Cast and Crew

The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The ensemble cast also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and Kajal Aggarwal. Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman are composing the music, while Ravi Bansal and Ramsey Avery handled production design and Terry Notary and Guy Norris choreographed the action. The movie will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English, including in IMAX 3D.

Leadership Statements

Nita M. Ambani, Chairperson of JioStar, stated that the partnership will take the cinematic adaptation to audiences beyond theatres and introduce a new generation to eternal values. Namit Malhotra, producer and CEO of DNEG, noted that while the film was built for large screens like IMAX 3D, India's cinema infrastructure cannot reach everyone, making JioHotstar a natural partner for home viewing after the theatrical window. Specific pricing and release dates for the digital platform have not been announced yet.

Context

Major film releases in India are increasingly adopting hybrid distribution models, combining exclusive theatrical windows with post-theatrical digital availability to reach wider audiences across different devices. Premium on-demand services allow platforms to offer individual movie purchases to home viewers outside of standard monthly subscription plans.
