Hyundai opens pre-bookings for Bayon midsize SUV at Rs 11,000 ahead of October launch

Positioning and Engines

Positioned below the Creta to fill the gap between the Venue and the Creta, the Bayon will feature a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 115hp and 144Nm. This motor pairs with a six-speed manual or a CVT gearbox featuring paddle shifters, drive modes, 'Dash Boost Mode', and 'Sporty Drive Tech'. Hyundai plans to introduce a factory-fitted CNG kit later with an underbody-mounted tank, while expected prices range from Rs 9 lakh to Rs 14 lakh.

Design and Features

Based on the Global K Enhanced platform with the 'Art of Steel' design language, the Bayon offers 10 paint options, a floating roof effect, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The cabin includes a black-and-white theme, dual 12.3-inch displays, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a generative AI assistant. Standard safety includes six airbags and over 35 features, targeting a 5-star BNCAP rating, while top trims add the 'Smart Sense Level 2 Pro' ADAS suite.

Context

This launch comes as alternative-fuel vehicles rapidly grow in popularity, having recently outsold traditional petrol cars in August 2026. By introducing a CNG option on a model above 4 metres, Hyundai aims to capture cost-sensitive buyers looking for low running costs without diluting the premium image of the Creta.
