Actress Swara Bhasker has joined the Amazon Prime Video reality show Rise and Fall 2 as a contestant. Her entry into the show has brought attention to her ongoing rivalry with fellow contestant Shehzad Poonawalla. Speaking in an interview, Swara called Shehzad a troll and stated that he is on the show only because of her. She claimed he has made multiple videos and tweets about her and is milking the situation. Joining the show on September 26 was a difficult choice for Swara, who is the mother of a three-year-old daughter named Raabia. She had to leave her child behind on her birthday and stay away for six weeks, making her headspace wrecked from the struggle of being away overnight. She noted that in the past three years, she has spent perhaps only three days away from her daughter. She accepted the challenge because Raabia is now three, hoping to slowly get back to work while using an annual reality show format to keep a flexible schedule for the rest of the year. She previously appeared on the Colors TV show Pati, Patni, Aur Panga. Swara rejected Bigg Boss 20 because a three-month commitment was too long for her, whereas the six-week run of Rise and Fall 2 fit better. She also liked that the Amazon show avoids food fights and kitchen politics, focusing instead on a larger narrative about workers in the basement and rulers in the penthouse, which appealed to her leftism. During the conversation, Swara also praised actor Salman Khan for taking a strong stand against trolling and the toxic paparazzi culture, following recent online abuse faced by Katrina Kaif over post-pregnancy weight gain. Rise and Fall 2 streams on Amazon Prime Video every Monday to Sunday at noon.
