Representative image · PexelsThe Hyundai Alcazar long-term test vehicle has completed a final 2,700km round trip between Mumbai and Delhi, serving as support transport for a camera crew shooting along the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. The vehicle covered close to 2,750km over five days without any warning lights or new rattles before heading back to Hyundai as its time in the test fleet came to a close.
Cabin and Features
With the third row folded flat, the boot accommodated three crew members, all their camera gear, and luggage. The second-row captain seats offered comfort for the crew, while a foldable tray table supported laptop work on footage. Ventilated seats and adaptive cruise control helped reduce fatigue during long driving hours in the heat. However, the cabin lacked wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, requiring a wired cable connection, and the dashboard plastics accumulated dust while the windows were rolled down during shooting.
Performance and Fuel Economy
The SUV is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a dual-clutch transmission. At 100kph in top gear on straight stretches of the expressway, the engine remained unstressed with well-contained wind noise. The transmission showed low-speed hesitation in bumper-to-bumper traffic in Mumbai and Delhi, but performed smoothly once past 40kph. On patchy sections of the road in Maharashtra where the NE4 Expressway connects to the old Golden Quadrilateral, the comfort-tuned ride felt slightly firmer over broken patches. Running with four adults, gear, and full air conditioning, the trip computer recorded an overall fuel economy of 12.8kmpl. The test vehicle finished its stint with an odometer reading of 21,024km and an ex-showroom price of Rs 21.09 lakh for the petrol DCT Signature 6-seater variant.
