Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan died on September 24 at the age of 75 due to relapsed cancer, after being admitted to Nanavati Hospital for health complications. His funeral took place in Mumbai on September 25. Actor Raza Murad posted an emotional video on Instagram criticizing Bollywood stars for not attending the funeral to pay their last respects. Murad noted that while fellow actors, colleagues, and friends were present, big star faces were missing. He contrasted this absence with how these same stars would readily attend industrialist weddings or political events, adding that they could not spare fifty minutes for a man who gave fifty years to the film industry. Murad also stated that Khan earned his success entirely through his own work without buttering up anyone. Friends and industry members who did attend the funeral in Mumbai include Rajpal Yadav, Rajat Bedi, Annu Kapoor, Sulabha Arya, Sanjay Mishra, Manish Wadhwa, Shehzad Khan, Zaid Darbar, comedian Sunil Pal, and filmmaker Anees Bazmee. Mourning his friend online, Murad called Khan a versatile actor with unlimited range and a gem of a person.
