Jio Platforms shares are making their stock market debut today following a historic Rs 30,213 crore initial public offering. The public issue ran its subscription window from October 21 to October 23 and shares were successfully allotted on Monday, October 27. Trading is set to begin on both the National Stock Exchange and the BSE at 10:00 am, preceded by a special pre-open session to determine the opening price.

Market Response

The public issue was subscribed 22.19 times overall, driven heavily by qualified institutional buyers whose portion was subscribed 70.55 times. Non-institutional investors subscribed 14 times. Ahead of the debut, the shares commanded a strong grey market premium ranging between Rs 244 and Rs 248 over the IPO price band of Rs 1,065 to Rs 1,119 per share. Based on this grey market activity and an upper price band of Rs 1,119 with a lot size of 12 shares, analysts pointed to an indicative listing price of around Rs 1,365 to Rs 1,367.

Context

Grey market premiums reflect unofficial market transactions ahead of a stock listing and are not official exchange-recognised prices, meaning actual debut numbers can vary based on market conditions. Large initial public offerings draw intense investor interest due to the scale of the company and its subscriber network.
