NDA alliance of Telugu Desam Party, Jana Sena Party and BJP is ahead in all 13 municipal corporations as counting of votes for 92 urban local bodies began on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Counting is taking place in 3,186 wards across 138 centres after a voter turnout of 62.16% on November 1. Early trends show TDP leading in Guntur, Palnadu and Bapatla districts with 118 wards won and another 21 where it is ahead; JSP secured 26 wards and BJP five, while YSRCP trails with 15 wins and leads in only 10. In Guntur Municipal Corporation, TDP mayor candidate Kovelamudi Lakshmi Aparna is in the lead, and in Tenali Jana Sena’s Thotakura Venkata Ramana Rao won the chairperson post by 17,093 votes. Counting in Chirala was halted due to Cyclone Murasu, and heavy rain in Vijayawada slowed tallying in NTR district, where only Jaggayyapeta results are out with TDP winning 24 of 36 wards. NDA won 51 of the 60 Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation wards; Jana Sena’s K. Nalini Devi claimed Ward 43. TDP candidates also lead in Tirupati (Manne Srinivasa Prasad, 23,435 votes) and Nellore (P. Roop Kumar Yadav, 35,640 votes). Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of YSRCP accused police and the State Election Commission of manipulating the process. Cases have been filed against 72 YSRCP leaders for alleged Model Code violations.

Context

These results reverse the 2021 outcome where YSRCP won mayoral posts in all 13 corporations, signalling a major shift in Andhra Pradesh’s urban political landscape.
