The latest crime thriller Drishyam 3 has crossed 216.50 crore rupees in net collections across India in its first five days at the box office.

Box Office Numbers

The film opened on Friday with 62 crore rupees, giving lead actor Ajay Devgn the biggest opening day of his career by beating the 43.50 crore rupees opening of Singham Again. Collections moved to 53.50 crore rupees on Saturday and recovered to 61 crore rupees on Sunday. Weekday collections slowed down with 21 crore rupees on Monday and 19 crore rupees on Tuesday.

Franchise Records

Drishyam 3 has already earned more than double the lifetime collection of the original Drishyam, which finished at 102.75 crore rupees. It is now around 30 crore rupees short of Drishyam 2, which collected 239.67 crore rupees net in India. The film also aims to match Ajay Devgn's highest-grossing film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, which earned 279.59 crore rupees.

Cast and Crew

Abhishek Pathak co-wrote, produced, and directed the film. Panorama Studios and Star Studio18 produced the project. The cast features Ajay Devgn, Jaideep Ahlawat, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Ishita Dutta, and Mrunal Jadhav.

Context

Sequels to successful Bollywood franchises often benefit from established viewer loyalty and strong pre-release brand recall. Crime thrillers generally rely on word-of-mouth momentum to sustain ticket sales after the opening weekend. Box office performance during the first week usually determines whether a movie can challenge previous lifetime box office records.
